Code Lyoko Facebook Game Empty Code Lyoko Facebook Game

Well, I wrote a review on the Facebook game on Tumblr and I thought I would share it here. You can share your opinions about the game here, as well as picking apart my review of the game Razz

I have to admit, this game did surpass my expectations, simply because I did not expect it to have some advanced skills/powers to be in this game. That is a huge plus, because it should’ve been in other Code Lyoko games, especially Fall of XANA (2nd Code Lyoko DS game).

It also has some sort of class system too, where each class has their pros and cons. However, it does sound like they’re favoring one particular character according to the class descriptions. Aelita’s like some sort of mage, while Yumi is some super duper fast unit with a lot of skills (which the speed part doesn’t make a lot of sense in my opinion), William’s a tank, Odd’s a ranged unit while Ulrich has a balance of everything. Needless to say, it made my choice easier and confirmed who I thought was going to be the most broken character to play as.

Seriously, Ulrich, like in all the other Code Lyoko games, is broken in a good way to the player. Even though in his description it states he has this balance between strength, speed and endurance, if the player were to be given control of where the stats go on Ulrich, he could excel at one thing while still be fine with the other two stats, making him extremely powerful. While other characters the player would have to make up for their weaker stat, the player won’t need to worry about Ulrich’s stats because they’ll be perfectly on average and can be improved. Not to mention he’s already one hitting the blocks on every second hit, which is pretty overpowered if you ask me, considering that William is supposed to be the heavy hitter.

Speaking of controlling the stats, the equipment a fantastic way to go with this. There are five slots, one for suit, one to belt, one to boots, one for accessory and one for weapon. It’s also great that there are different drops rates from monsters for certain items too. Like I got this special armour for Ulrich that gives him a 2% chance to absorb 5% damage, which can be really handy if he were to be hit by a critical hit or a devastating blow, gives him an extra 4% dodge rate and +1 Life. I’m not sure if anybody else had gotten this, but it looks like something not everybody won’t pick in the early stages of the game.

The Powers are an amazing addition. It allows the player to choose each one as their character levels up, which is similar to how a lot of good Role Playing Games (RPG) works. There are shared powers, which every character can use, and class specific powers where only if your character is of that class they can have access to these powers. I have to admit though, the first level up I got with Ulrich I was exposed to quite a broken class related power to his, so I avoided getting it because that would’ve made the game a bit too easy for me. Although, I do plan on getting it later.

However, the combat system of this game is… well… you don’t really do anything during it. You just watch your character duke it out with monsters and hope that he/she wins. Which they do most of the time. And it leads me to this. Because you just watch your character fight, the combat system doesn’t take turns like a usual RPG system, which makes the fights a bit unfair. Personally, I think the combatant with the most speed should go first, and then the opponents’ turn, and if the combatant has double the speed, he should be able to attack twice a round.

Anyway, that’s it so far. I’ve enjoyed it as of late, and hopefully tomorrow I can test it out with a friend of mine who’s happy to play with me.

I'm not very far in the game yet (only deactivated the first tower), but I can see where you're going with the fighting bit. I mean, it's all good and well for me since I've never been good at combat games (guess who stinks at Halo, noooo, couldn't be me).

I also love the music and the sound effects. Especially when they devirtualise you. Eeek.

Bumping this topic back alive with a poll.

To play this game (and any Facebook game, for the matter) you have to have heaps of your friends playing it. Now, would you seriously add people from Xana's Lair to your Facebook account, that most likely has your actual name on it and that you would trust, just to have more options/people to select from for the game?

I selected yes mainly because I'm at the age where I know who I can trust knowing my actual name, and know that they won't abuse it or tell in public boards what it actually is.

If there were that many of us playing, I’d probably make a separate Face Book account with my username...just to keep things simple…

Well, to tell the truth, I've actually already done that on my Facebook account... mostly because I don't have my real info on it to begin with. Well, with some exceptions. But yes, most likely I wouldn't have anything against adding some of you to my Facebook list, just for the game. Though, as the things are looking now, I don't need to.
