Plot
In the year 2040, Neuro-synchronization, a technology system that allows humans to manipulate their five senses, has become widespread; people can access the internet and enter virtual worlds. Haruyuki "Haru" Arita is a short, fat boy who due to constant bullying has low-self esteem. To escape the torment of real life, he logs-in to the school's virtual world network where he plays squash alone and always gets the highest score.
One day Haru attracts the attention of the Student Council Vice-President Kuroyukihime who offers him Brain Burst, a secret program which allows a person to make time appear to stand still in their surroundings by "accelerating" their brainwaves in the real world. Unfortunately, there is a limit to how many times a person can accelerate; Brain Burst points are used and the primary way to get more points is to fight and defeat other Brain Burst users in the program's virtual reality massive multiplayer online (VRMMO) fighting game. However, if a user loses all of his/her points the Brain Burst program will uninstall itself and block all re-installation attempts, thus permanently removing the user's ability to accelerate.
Kuroyukihime wants Haru's help as she wishes to reach Level 10 and meet the creator of Brain Burst to learn its true purpose. But in order to do that, she must defeat five other Level 9 users who just so happen to be from "The Six Kings of Pure Color", the leaders of the six most powerful factions in the Brain Burst world. For helping him, Haru agrees to help Kuroyukihime not only to repay her but to overcome his weaknesses.

KC was in class working on a mathmatic assignment when an e-mail came to his screen from one of the girls in the class Aki Hirgurashi. KC carefully glanced at the blond haired girl that was across the way. She looked at him and gave a wink.

KC sighed slightly figuring it was a lunch order and opened the e-mail

"KC-kun" Aki sweet voice read in an alluring tone "could you be sweet and get in line for me and a few friends at lunch today pretty please. We'll make it up to you on the net after school."

KC sighed slightly and quickly wrote "sure Aki-nee, send me the list and the money."

Aki-nee received the e-mail and flashed him a smile.

A few moment later KC got the list and the money. It was loaded for at least five girls plus Aki-nee

KC sighed slightly

Lucy sat at a lunch table in the upperclassmen section.

Kanako was in the bathroom eating her lunch. She sighed.

Thankfully for KC. He had a slight connection in the lounge which allowed him to forward the lunch list to the clerk so that she could set aside the wanted items. This wasn't the first time KC had gotten a lunch list from Aki-nee and her friends and KC didn't really mind getting it after all. They always saved a spot for him at their table and their little make ups after school were always fun too. He knew he received evil glares from several of the more popular boys in the school jealous that KC was sitting with those girls but for some reason they never acted against him. KC figured it was the security cameras all over the cafeteria and he knew anyone causing trouble would be caught by those cameras. When the lower classmen were let out for lunch. KC made his way to the lunch line and got in it

Lucy glanced over at KC seeing him waiting in line.
"Must be fetching things for the other girls..." she thought.

John spent his time in the library, playing games with the other guys. He quickly gained an advantage."And that's Checkmate."He stated calmly.

KC made his way to the front of the line. "Hi Ami-chan"

The girl smiled at KC "Hi KC-kun, I got your order all set." She moved over a tray that was loaded with all the things KC's ordered.

"Thanks Ami-chan." KC replied as he paided the money then lifted the tray with both hands and keeping it balanced however he couldn't see the ground directly in front of him

"How does a boy like that eat that much." A guy whispered to another

"It's not for him." The friend replied "he's acts like a waiter for Hirgurashi-san and her giggling friends."

KC made his way toward Aki-nee and her other friends but didn't see it coming when some jealous male decided to slide a baseball bat right in KC's path.

KC stepped on the bat with his right foot and the bat took his foot with it when it rolled away of course that foot was still attached to KC's leg and when it went KC went with it.

"Whoa-eow" KC called out in a combination of Whoa and a cat cry, as his right foot went out from underneath him causing him to lose his footing and the tray of food as KC went back it was sent upward and he crashed to the ground.

"KC-KUN!" All the girls shouted in a panic.

The food came down on top of KC which decorated him with various entrees.

Yani, who sat at a nearby table, witnessed the scene. She jumped out of her seat immediately and knelt beside KC's side, "Are you okay?" The female extended her arm behind her, in order to grasp a handful of napkins. She kindly handed them to KC, before coming to her feet once again. Her arm reached down towards the male laying along the cafeteria floor, lending her hand in assistance to help him up. Her rose eyes met with the culprit of the incident, shaking her head in disappointment. Haseo sat quietly, watching carefully, with his head being held up by his knuckle.

"ow..." He whined slightly but he took Yani hand and took the aid up "there's goes one of my nine lives" He moaned

Aki-nee got up followed by her friends "girls clean KC-kun up." She commanded and the girls all went over to help clean KC up. She then glared at the male culprit who had a slight smirk and stormed over to him "What the freaking hell Reso." She said "what made you do that."

The guy smirked and said "because I had the guts to make a statement about this." He replied "I mean come on, what is wrong with both of you. The kid acting like a submissive pet doing whatever you ask him like getting all your lunches and you are acting like your his owner always hanging on to him by his leash on the net and then you all cuddle with him and pet him because he's so cute. You all make me sick."

Aki-nee said "your just jealous of him because we pay attention to him."

Reso scoffed "and he needs to grow up. He's not a cat so he shouldn't act like one. He needs to act his age"

Aki-nee said "and you need to be taught a lesson. Burst Link!"

Reso said "what the?" Then less then two seconds later he cried out

Aki-nee said "I hope you felt every second of that. ****."

Reso said "how... did you know my name and how were you..."

Aki-nee scoffed "it doesn't take an expert to match a name to a face especially when it comes to your attitude and you wonder why I don't like you because I know what you are and I don't like it. You pick on KC again and you'll regret it." She walked away from Reso and went over to KC who was being cleaned by the girls and was not resisting their cleaning but was blushing heavily. "okay girls that enough we can continue this elsewhere in case anyone else is disgusted on how we treat a friend."

Kanako exited the bathroom and sighed. She looked around to see if anyone was around that may harm her.

John waved to the others and walked out, going down the hall. He froze when he saw Kanako, then immediately turned, blushing darkly and glancing down. He was always nervous around her.

Kanako took a breath and started to walk when she was stopped by a student in a leather jacket.
"Hey there Nigiri!"
She looked down, "Please don't do anything..."
He put his hand on the wall, cornering her, "Now why would I do that? Those little cameras are watching us."
"But this is a-" She covers her mouth.
He smirks, "You're right! There ARE no cameras..." He places his hand at Kanako's throat.

John saw someone picking on Kanako and blinked, watching the scenario infront of him. He walked up."H..Hey, don't do that kind of stuff, or I will report you to the principal."

"Aki-nee I'm fine" KC said as Aki-nee lead slash dragged him to the nurse's station. "I'm not that hurt really."

"You're going to get checked out KC." Aki-nee said in a forceful manner "now." She was still mad at what had happened

KC sighed "okay Okay... I'll go."

"Well what do we have here? Another little maggot I can squish." as he said this, Kanako kneed him in the gut. He stumbled back with enough time for her to grab John by the wrist and run.

John gasped as Kanako attacked the boy, before he could react, the girl grabbed him by the wrist and he stumbled after, eventually running after her. He blinked and looked at her."Y..you're not hurt?"

"N-No. Come on, there are cameras in the Cafeteria, he won't get us there..."

"O..Okay, if you say so."John followed Kanako's lead, a few seconds passed and they were in the cafeteria. He slowed to a walk and panted, his hands on his knees.

Kanako sighed and walked away to sit at a table by a camera.

John looked over at Kanako, his cheeks a little red and he glanced down, shifting a little bit. he wasn't sure whether or not to join her.

Aki-nee and KC entered into the nurse's station but found that the nurse was out for the moment

Aki-nee sighed "I guess we'll have to wait."

KC sighed "I'm sorry I dropped everyone's lunch. Aki-nee"

Aki-nee said "KC it's not your fault. We were being lazy and demanding and you paided for it because of that idiot Reso."

KC said "I heard him cry out did you hit him."

Aki-nee said "no I did worse. I beat him up without even touching him."

KC said "huh? How did you do that."

Aki-nee looked around then leaned close and whispered "do you know about Brain Burst KC?"

"Brain Burst..." KC muttered lowly "no I don't think I do"

Aki-nee said "why don't we direct connect and we can talk about it without someone else listening in."

KC blushed slightly and said "uh... I don't know Aki-nee... isn't direct connecting reserved for couples only."

Aki-nee pulled out a meter long cord and said "don't worry KC. I don't mind connecting with you."

KC said "okay..."

Aki-nee connected the cord to KC's neurolinker and connected one end to hers

"there you see." Aki-nee's sweet voice echoed into KC mind "isn't this better."

KC hummed "I guess." He replied in mind speak.

Aki-nee said "now what I'm about to tell you is a secret that you must not tell anyone else."

KC said "what is the secret."

Aki-nee said "I'm part of a guild in this school that uses Brain Burst."

KC said "What is Brain Burst."

Aki-nee said "Let me show you." She worked with something on her side and a file was sent over to KC."

KC said "what's this?"

Aki-nee said "this is Brain Burst. It's a special program that allows you to stop time."

KC said "Stop time?"

Aki-nee said "well okay not exactly stop but it's so dang close enough to stopping time that everything stops around you including your body."

KC said "wait how can you stop time with stopping your body."

Aki-nee said "because your mind keeps going."

KC said "oh right... the program can connect into the virtual world where your mind seperates from your body." He blinked "but wait that supposed to be in real time"

Aki-nee smiled "that's the beauty of it. When you activate the brain burst your brainwaves accelerate."

KC said "how fast..."

Aki-nee said "1000 times normal."

KC said "is that even possible?"

Aki-nee said "Yep but it only lasts for about 2 secs in real time but during that time you have 30 minutes in Brain Burst time in which you can use to study a situation and use that knowledge to react faster then normal. We call this ability Accelerate"

KC said "wow..."

Aki-nee said "but there is a catch. To have this ability you have to have Brain Burst Points."

KC said "Brain Burst Points."

Aki-nee nodded "yes... it costs one point to use the program once. You start with 100 points but the minute those points hit zero it's over and the program uninstalls and can never be installed ever again"

KC said "so you can only use it 100 times?"

"No..." Aki-nee said "throughout the global net there is an arena that allows you to duel others in fights using a special brain burst Avatar. Win and you get more Brain Burst Points, Lose and you lose points."

KC said "whoa... and if you lose all your points..."

Aki-nee said "then you lose the ability."

KC said "eee... risk big win big as they like to say."

Aki-nee said "I want to give you this program KC so we can accelerate together."

KC said "is there anything special required to use this program."

Aki-nee said "You have to have a neurolinker since you were born."

KC said "I got that."

Aki-nee said "and you got to keep it a general secret if you want to join the school's guild"

KC said "and I can keep a secret."

Aki-nee smiled "then we should have no problems."

KC said "so I just open and install right."

Aki-nee said "yep."

KC tapped on the program and hit the install button.

All of a sudden an alert appeared on his screen.

KC said "hmm... oh no..."

Aki-nee said "what is it KC."

KC said "I got an alert..." he tapped the alert and a message popped up

"The executable can not be run at this time. Please notify the admin of this operating program about this error if you trust the source of the program."

KC said "ah dang it..."

Aki-nee said "what is it KC?"

KC said "my neurolinker has a customized operation system designed by my guardian Tomas. If a program tries to install into a critical area of my brain the program blocks the attempt and tells me to go talk to my guardian."

Aki-nee said "oh dear..."

KC said "eh Tomas is pretty cool with anything I usually install but I have to get his permission first."

Aki-nee frowned "I didn't know your guardian knew how to create neurolinker operation programs."

KC said "he is a computer programmer and he has worked with building programs for the neurolinker."

Aki-nee said "really..."

KC said "He doesn't really talk about it though."

Aki-nee hummed slightly "so he keeps secrets too..."

KC said "anyway Aki-nee I'll show him the program but I won't tell him you gave it to me or that your part of a guild at the school that uses it. I'll keep that part of the secret quiet."

Aki-nee said "okay."

KC looked around "so where is that nurse?" He thought

Aki-nee said "I'm not sure usually she supposed to be availible during the Lunch Hour."

KC's stomach growled

Aki-nee said "aww... are you hungry KC?"

KC sighed "yeah I'm hungry."

Aki-nee said "let's go back to cafeteria. I'll pay for your meal."

KC said "gee thanks Aki-nee but let disconnect first."

Aki-nee nodded and she disconnected.

Lucy sighed. She noticed Kanako sitting alone and took note of her.
"Alone, huh? Wonder why."
