CLE Episode 9: Comment Tromper XANA

First off, let me just say that the Ulumi moments in here were just so AFHSJAKLFd. I wish I could've understood the dialogue when they were in front of the tower in the beginning though.

I'm not so sure I like the new Sissi yet.... she seems a bit standoffish to me in her reactions to the Lyoko gang, something I wouldn't have expected after how they left off in Echoes. Though I did love the reactions she gave to Odd when he kept bumping in to her and then chased her making kissy face.

Samantha's reactions to Odd were amusing enough. Making fun of him when he'd dressed up and then went crazy.

I feel like XANA is being troll in this episode towards the audience. "Oh, you think staring contests are lame? Well now you're drawn in by staring contests because they actually hold a purpose now: to bait Ulrich into saving Yumi! WAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HARRRR!!!!" And then the Lyoko warriors are like TROLL BACK because of the virus or whatever Jeremie implanted into Ulrich.

I realllllly miss dark-haired Sissi. And again, if the Sams are the same, they also really screwed up on casting there. But! On the bright side, there was adorable Ulrich/Aelita friendship (and I'm really shipping them right now because they are adorable and have a great friendship and great friends can become great girl/boyfriends wheee)

The Ulrich/Yumi moments were so badly needed! I really liked the looks they gave each other on Lyoko, especially. It was also cute how he volunteered to go to Lyoko for her instead, too.

I saw someone mention this on Tumblr (alemonlemoned aka lemonsdarling aka Kay, iirc), but it could make for a good discussion here too...is anyone else noticing how they really specific goals/plotlines for each episode and then it's like, everything else is shelved until a future episode? Like, we wait however many episodes until we see Laura again. And we wait for eight episodes until we see Ulrich/Yumi. And it's all very over the place, with a different ship featured in each episode. I get that they can't film and show everything, but it's really, really obvious.

I did notice the alternating storylines too, Kelly. Though this episode did imply continuity when Jeremie mentioned asking Laura for help to Aelita (he's not as girl illiterate as he seems, using Aelita's jealousy of Laura to keep her from subjecting herself to the code thing).It does make it seem just a bit choppy (at least my fanfic (that I still haven't written XD) has a continuous plotline). I get that there are three main arcs going on right now: XANA vs Gang (source codes), gang vs Alan Meyer (Cortex and Aelita's dad), and gang vs Laura. At least try and make them somewhat flow together. (I have a feeling that will happen late-season, and I don't want to wait that long. XD)

(Why yes, I did just now watch the English dubs. ;D)

Samantha's dialogue about her background did seem consistent with Sam's history trends, but everything else is not, including the whitewashing and the voice and the way she didn't absolutely worship Odd like she had at the end of s3. This Sam reminds me a bit more of Brynja.

I didn't see so much UxA friendship in this episode. Or, at least, none of it really stuck out to me. But the Ulumi, again, was AFDHAJFSHJKF. What I must know, though, is why did Sissi not jump all over Ulrich when he grabbed her hand like that? Did Sissi finally decide to leave the couple to themselves? ...At least she was satisfactorily disappointed when Ulrich left her to chase Yumi after she'd run off with the spectre.

In a shipper's mind, lmao, you can find any kind of evidence for your ship. I didn't actually find it (alemonlemoned had the screenshots, God bless her), but THERE WAS A LITTLE. And Ulrich/Yumi was so cute. <3 I love this couple, and it was one of the first couples I ever shipped, I think. Quentin and Melanie do such a good job playing them too!

Sissi does seem different. And it seems like we're going to get a little more of an Odd/Sissi slant rather than Ulrich/Sissi in CLE. Though, it is way too early to tell right now. I'm not sure if I like the idea though, because I don't like it when a producer decides that everyone has to be paired up...? But again, this is all speculation on my part, and who knows, Sissi may be super into Ulrich as the season goes on!

And I never realised that, but you're right. There are three main arcs, and they keep on alternating between the last two, while the XANA vs Gang is the only one consistent in each episode. Yeah, mid-season's coming up soon, so maybe it'll start to flow together more. Though it's scary...mid-season is coming up soon /already/. I really, really, really hope we get a season six, though I don't want to get my hopes up too high.

What do you mean "mid-season is coming up /already/"? It can't come soon enough, for all I'm concerned! 26 episodes means they're taking half a year to air the whole thing. HALF A YEAR IS TOO LONG. XD

The XANA vs Gang thing I mentioned I meant specifically to the source code arcs, which are the focus in XANA 2.0 (Jim spectre), Spectromania (kid and Ulrich spectres), Rivalry (William spectre), Countdown (where we finally got to see the polymorphs!), and How to Fool XANA (this one, with the handsome Theo lookalike spectre). I think there was one more, but I can't remember the name atm. The Laura!arc shows up in Mme Einstein and Virus. And Cortex in Cortex, Suspicions, and Virus. I like how Cortex and Laura were crossed in Virus, and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season will turn out. ASDFIHJMK', L WE NEED A SEASON 6.

I'd like to see a Laura spectre.

Well, time's flown by really fast, so I'm so surprised. Like, holy crap, it's been a couple of months already. Not to mention, we don't know if there'll be another season, so I just want to let this last as long as possible. I loveee having this kind of active-r fandom, and we'll lose some of that when CLE stops airing. ;a;

And I know right. I really, really want a season six asdfjklasf. It's been so cool waiting for the episodes each week, especially since when I first watched them, I was too young to be on the internet (not to mention, the internet definitely wasn't as big a thing as it is now when I was eight).

Same! I just want to see more of Laura in general. I'm interested as to where her character goes.

I think this is my favorite episode so far this season. I can now count the number of times I've rewatched it on two hands.

I think the part I live for most in this episode is the part where Ulrich has collapsed after loading the spectre with fake codes, and Yumi goes up to him hoping he's okay, and he's all like, "If you could only see your face," and she says, "You're so stupid." Then his head falls back and OMG IT'S LIKE HE DIED BUT HE DIDN'T HE SURVIVED ASFGJKHJLDS THIS PART DRIVES ME BANANAS I WANT MORE AND OMG MY FEEEEEEEELSSS

But I'm not obsessed or anything. :3
