Thoughts on Code Lyoko Evolution

In honor of Evolution being released later in the year, I think I'd start a topic relating to everyone's opinions on Evolution, before and after the show's release.
Now, for my opinion: I think that this series might take place in some sort of an alternate Code Lyoko universe. And considering how seasons three and four went out, I think they might end up making some sort of noticeable flaws in the new season. In my mind, I'm sort of thinking: "Great, can't wait to see how they mess that up."
This might either be
A) As big as Legend of Korra,
B) End up getting cancelled,
or C) Kinda terrible.

But I'd like to hear someone else have a different view on Evolution. What are you guy's thoughts?

I have mixed feelings about it. I don't really know how I feel about the live action thing... Or changing their looks (in faces) on Lyoko. But, we'll see how it goes, I guess. But for now, I wouldn't say past The Legend of Korra.

I'm looking forward to it. And I don't think it's right to pass judgement on it just yet. Saying things like "it's going to get cancelled it'll be so crap blah blah blah" — we've seen little to nothing.
But from what we do have so far, the live action co-producer seems to do decent work, the new graphics engine looks nice [and eye colours yesss], the outfits are far better than season 4's, and they've got a really interesting plot set up that people have been wondering about for a while (Carthage/Hopper's co-workers) which isn't just a random Xana revival.

So yes, I am really looking forward to it. And I believe they're able to pull it off. You gotta keep more of an open mind. What's more, hopefully this'll inspire Moonscoop to make more merchandise available outside of Spain o3o

Parts of it I reallllly like. (Well, that and the fact it's coming back at all. That in itself is EPIC!!!) I love the new oufits (except for Aelita's lack of face markings...) and the plot sounds cool.
My only hope is that the kids they find actually have some REAL acting chops. I don't wanna see it turn into something laughable with really bad acting and pretty faces and weird effects. *cough*powerrangers*cough*

I'm also lookng forwrd to it. The plot that they've come up with sonds relly good, & it sonds like Lyoko's mystry might get a litle bit deepr...I agre with Quen. We can't relly make any judgmnts untl we actlly watch the show...

As big as Korra? Korra is big mostly because A:TLA was such a huge success. Unless you mean how different it is to the predecessor, of which we can agree.

I think it's not going to alternate anything as what they've shown can be added onto existing canon just fine. The plot itself sounds really interesting, and the set designs and such looks nice as well.

As a previous poster said, the live acting is probably going to be the main question mark as to how good it is.

Yeah, well, there is hope. Sometimes when things turn live action, they're so focused on getting actors who resemble the characters, that no one can act (kinda like the avater last airbender movie)

But they said that in the casting, they're more looking for people who can act than clones of the characters.

So that might be good, but it's still too early to assume anything.

I really hope so. That's really the only thing that worries me about Evolution. (Aside from the fact that I will miss their cartoon forms). What can I say? I just love my cartoons. But I hope it turns out well for the live action.

I agree with Atlas and Queen. I'm not getting my hopes too high that it'll be brilliant (though I am really excited anyway) but at the same time, we don't know enough to tear it completely apart yet, and what we have heard sounds rather promising.

I'm not saying it'll be fantastic, but It'll certainly be nice not to have to speculate so much on the origins of the super computer anymore, the more backstory to work with, the easier our jobs become, (without writing our own back story) no? Also, hopefully they'll explain what happened to Anthea.

The only thing I know about the people in charge of the live action stuff did one other show called Cœur Océan.

I'm not stubborn about the form it arrives in, whether animated or live action. As long as we get back into the fields of Lyoko to kick Xana's ass, I'm satisified.

Many others are looking forward as well. We, as a whole, should rejoin the warriors, no matter what. We're all here, aren't we? Well, guys, I say, let's get to work and kick butt!

I have a wonderfully pessimistic attitude about CLE, and it really can't go wrong. Either it is horrible, and, well, I was expecting that anyway. Or it's absolutely amazing, and I get to be all happy about it. Win/win.

I had a crazy theory about the newer outfits. Has anyone noticed (I've said this about a 100 times) that the outfits are so similar, the only difference is that the colors are different? It would make creating new LWs really easy, instead of a new theme (samuri, fairy, geisha), they's only need new colors.

I noticed that too. The outfits are fairly similar to their season four outfits, but with some changes. Not much, but changes nonetheless.
While on the topic of outfits, I noticed Aelita's latest accessory on her wrist, which both activates her wings and senses XANA vibrations. I don't know about you guys, but that addition kind of ruins the element of surprise.

At least they would be able to see XANA coming, especially if the attack is directed towards Aelita. I think they've been ambushed a lot during past series, and if they were on Lyoko scouting, at least they'll know whether it would be a normal scout or something XANA has interrupted.

Really it's just replacing Jeremie. Poor guy.

Yes, but old Legend' memory disagrees. I can barely remember anything about the show. Tbh, I don't think I have watched all the episodes *smiles sheepishly*

I was following it back in 2004 (debating, analyzing and all that), but I guess I didn't make an effort to continue watching later on. I guess the first two seasons and the rest was youtube videos or something. I was more interested in old anime at that period of time. What kept me coming back to CL was FF.

Anyways, I will try to rewatch everything when the new season is out. For now, I am not really interested in speculating and discussing.

More on the fact of Evolution in General, I'm not going to get my hopes too high up (am I excited, you can bet, but I've also seen sequels that are rushed). If this turns out to amazing, then yay! Because I want it to go so well.

On the bit about the new uniforms being easily changed to accomodate new warriors, I think I'd like to see a new Lyoko Warrior, IF (and only if) the character is introduced later (I'm talking after at 3/4ths of the first season and they were an extra beforehand (think William if William didn't get himself possessed). It might also just because it's easier to make costumes like that than figure out how a giant cat's or Samurai's outfit would be easy to move around in.

I'd love to see Sissi as an LW. My God, she's done a lot wrong, and hasn't been an angel, but I have a soft spot for her. I want to see her grow up and mature, and find out more about her mother (sue me, I'm a sucker for sob stories and a character realising that a specific incident shouldn't change their whole outlook on life).

What do you guys think a new character would be like? I don't know how much I'd want to see one, but it's interesting to think who they could be.

If it wasn't sombdy alredy esblshd in the show, mabye it wold be sombdy that Od wold fall in love with...?

If Odd were to fall in love with someone, I'm personally hoping it'd be an angsty, forbidden love type thing. I don't know if there's a viable source of forbidden love in CL, but who knows about CLE?

I agree with wanting to see Sissi as an LW, though I'd also like to see William in a more permanent, less possessed role as well.
